Hello. My name is Laura Doherty. For those who are unfamilliar with a Clydebank twang this may come out as ‘Laaaaaauuurrrggghhh Dauuuuurghhhhhhhh’, which sounds a bit like a drunken Irish bar brawl, hence ‘Bar Brawl’.
I started out writing album and live reviews for Scottish music fanzine Is This Music? before being graduated to a dictaphone toting features writer. I then began co-editing the music section of The Glasgow Guardian; our ‘vibrant’ features and reviews helped the Insight section of the paper get a special mention at the 2008 Herald Student Press Awards where The Glasgow Guardian won Best Newspaper. Go us.
I now contribute to GUM, The Glasgow Guardian and co-host RARA RADIO! on Subcity Radio, while occasionally worrying about getting a proper job.
These are the worries, woes, obsessions and articles of a neurotic final year student. Probably written whilst abusing coffee shop wi-fi, or reclined on library sofas.
